History

Uri Alon, the famous agronomist, and his team guide the tour in the Salad Trail. They can provide you a professional support to conduct your tour. The Salad Trail tour was started first in 2004 by Uri Alon. Uri Alon is an expert on the diseases of the plants, consultant who works in abroad and Israel on different issues of agriculture. This is actually a family business and every person in the family has their own contribution. Uri has started this tour on the basis of his experience and knowledge on agriculture. Shuli is a cooking enthusiast and he has built his own restaurant in the greenhouses of the trails. He cooks his excellent dishes with the freshly grown vegetable from the trails. This idea of planning an agricultural tour comes from the family but Uri has taken the initiative to start their own agricultural trail.

Philosophy

The main motto of Uri and his family is to bring a positive awareness among the farmers to grow the vegetables and fruits without any pesticide residues. Homing pigeons are the major attraction of the site. Uri Alon is one of the renowned national champions in Israel for homing pigeon.  He can provide the best learning experience to the visitors about the mail-delivery service, receiving messages, experience sending in pigeon style etc.

Activities

The Salad Path tour tells the story of Zionism and pioneering of the 21^st century. In every step of your tour, you will get the explanation about the various agricultural topics. Among other activities, you will get the opportunity of fruit and vegetable picking. You can see here how the fruits and vegetable growing, different types of tomato greenhouses etc.

The most popular activity of the place is the chef of the trail, where the groups will compete with each other to make four types of different dishes from the outputs of the farm. Each of the group will receive various tasks to prepare some unique original dishes with the freshly picked vegetables and fruits from the farm. The judge’s panel will judge the best dish to select the winner.
