Lotan kibbutz, the Center for Creative Ecology

There are the colorful and gorgeous Edom Mountains in the Jordan that provides an awesome view. The beautiful canyon of the Eliat Mountain is located in the backyard of the Kibbutz. History
Lotan was founded in the year 1983 by the American and Israeli youths who have created the kibbutz as the profit sharing community that based on the egalitarian, pluralistic and the creative Jewish values. The name Kibbutz Lotan was derived from the name of one of the sons of the Seir the Horite. He was a descendant of the Esau.  It is in the Arava Desert of Israel and founded with a good source of groundwater. This kibbutz is in the low point of the desert valley and it is nearly hundred feet above of an aquifer. During past few years, Lotan has become popular for its sustainability.

Lotans has popular tea house that located in the Kibbutz’s ecological garden. Buildings of the place are made with the natural building methods and come with an earth structural design. They serve here only the organic foods that grow in their garden.

Philosophy
Eco kef of Lotan is a heaven in the desert heart. The members of the Kibbutz has a deep passion for ecology with the inspiration of their passion they have transformed the desert into a green land of Eden. They follow a principle of the organics, permaculture, natural building, and recycling. So, in the Eco-Kef, you will find various kinds of vegetables, water filter reed beds, fruit gardens, compost toilets and other green building activities.

The tea house runs by solar power and they offer only the organic but tasty meals to the guests.

Activities
There is the Eco kid’s playground for the kids where the kids will be happy by making the turtles, dragons with the old rubbish and can enjoy some other activities.

They organize the nature building workshop that provides you a lot of opportunities to learn the process that how to make different products by mud.  The guests and the students can learn the process to test the soil to use it for the construction work.
